Media Wants Riots: Why Indians are Protesting Bias and Sensationalism in Media

These last few months of media reporting in and on India are sounding ominously like the media climate in America in the period between the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the invasion of Iraq. There is blood and fire in the air and on the ground, and a gloomy atmosphere of even more death and destruction to come. There is a sense of righteousness and justice at work in the passions that these media narratives arouse and stoke, too. But most of all, there is the utter lack of credibility, balance and a sense of honor for truth in all of this idealistic talk.

In the last week of September at Dadri not far from the Indian capital, an angry mob lynched to death Mohammad Akhlaq over allegations that a cow was slaughtered and he ate beef.

In the 1970s and 1980s in Bihar where there was no Bharatiya Janata Party, cow slaughter was still banned and there were times when there would be conflicts over beef and policemen would visit homes.

Beef conflicts are not new to contemporary India. Cows are not slaughtered across the Islamic world, but the reason cows are slaughtered mostly in the Indian Subcontinent is because Indian Islamists introduced the practice of cow slaughter here as a challenge to Hindu religious practice of worshiping cows.

If one were to look back at recent events, it is obvious that it is not the Congress party, but Sonia Gandhi and Rahul who have been at the forefront of aggressive behaviour in parliament and outside. Yesterday, even taciturn Sonia rushed to the well of the house, showing her true nature. The disruptions during Sushma Swaraj's speech were often instigated by Sonia herself, and the sharp personal attacks - whether on Modi or Swaraj - were made by Rahul.
The rise of Modi's BJP is a direct threat to the Gandhi family's control of the Congress because it challenges the idea of the party as family property. Modi's unexpected rise, despite the forces ranged against him, demonstrate a simple point: that talented individuals can rise from nowhere to become No 1. Just as in business the Narayana Murthys and Sachin Bansals have challenged the hegemony of family-based businesses, in politics, Modi is the disrupter of family-based politics.

It is no surprise that Modi's tactics and strategies are now being copied by ambitious politicians everywhere - from Arvind Kejriwal, who abandoned his Aam Aadmi avatar to become AAP's sole face, to Nitish Kumar, and even Akhilesh Yadav in UP. All these leaders have realised that the people are looking for new leaders who can solve problems. Family-based parties are fine, as long as they seem to provide talented leaders with new ideas for India. At one point, even Kanshi Ram and Mayawati provided that new idea. This is exactly what the Congress party's First Family is afraid of - that talent will trump political inheritance at some point.
The Sonia-Rahul effort to disrupt parliament is driven by two fears - that if they do not lead the chaos, their party's most ambitious leaders could revolt and break off to form their own regional outfits (as Sharad Pawar and Mamata Banerjee did in the past). It should be more than obvious to anyone that young leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sachin Pilot are any day more capable than Rahul Gandhi, and the only thing holding them back is the reality that the Congress is currently Gandhi family property, and no one is allowed to outshine them.

The second fear of the Gandhi family is narrow and personal: they suspect that sooner or later, the real estate capers of Robert Vadra and Sonia and Rahul themselves (as evidenced in the National Herald property grab) will make them legally and politically vulnerable.

The "maa-beta" aggression is probably intended as a pre-emptive strike, so that in case the legal situation turns against them, they can claim political vendetta. Rahul Gandhihas already been muttering darkly about vendetta politics.

It was also alleged a blue corner notice in against lalit modi was issued by Interpol which turned out to be a bogus claim.misplaced hysteria of arnab of past 3 days is disturbing disgusting and unacceptable. Questions need to be asked of congress why an ostensible criminal was not brought back to face the law of the land, what did congress fear who would have been exposed in the process of court battle. Congress has a strong record of corruption and scams in past 10 years, maybe this would have also lead to another one?

Former Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi on Wednesday hit back at former finance minister P Chidambaram after he questioned the present NDA government for issuing fresh passport to Lalit Modi.
Modi tweeted that former finance minister cancelled his passport illegally.

“You illegally Mr Chidambaram cancelled it. The Honorable high court gave it back to me and said to your government -No Ball.”

Earlier senior Congress leader while addressing the pres conference here raised several questions on NDA government asking it to bring Modi back to India.

“Why NDA government is not making any effort to bring Lalit Modi back to India,” asked the former finance Minister.

Chidamabaram said that issuing passport to Lalit Modi is against law of the land and said that government must make the ‘file sharings’ public.

Is Indian Media beyond redemption???

Indian readers and viewers are aghast at what is being offered in the print and in the electronic media. We are all collectively praying and hoping this honeymoon period of the BJP government comes to a quick end and media reverts to reporting the facts instead of all the trivia that it has been passing off as News.

If one was to believe the media in India nothing of consequence and significance has happened post 26th May 2014. After the video released by Dr.Kiran Bedi which set the record straight about the claims being made by that criminal anchor of that corrupt Timesnow channel.

Media has all but been buried deep into the ground; it will take a Herculean effort on part of those who still enjoy credibility with Indian public to resurrect this 4th pillar of democracy. Unheard of reactions are being reported by people on SM Zee News has blocked a viewer on Twitter because he asked a few inconvenient questions.

Amrit Hallan makes a telling point about how the important news is being given a go by for the inconsequential. Udayan Bose takes a serious swing at Rajdeep Sardesai for his well known biased views on BJP. There is Ankit Lal of Aam Aadmi Party this party and its people have caused more damage to quality of politics than any known political party of past or present.

Congress is unable to contain itself and has taken to objecting to every little thing that BJP government does. This is reflecting very poorly on Congress, without power it’s a group of sour whiners. Nothing is complete without mentioning NDTV and its pathetically low standards of professionalism.  Only channel which refers to terrorists as guerrillas and the state of Jammu & Kashmir as Indian controlled Kashmir. No media anywhere in the world would be indulging in this and getting away unpunished, but then we are unique “it only happens in India.”

Mr. Vikram Chandra of NDTV seems to have forgotten India was the toast of the world under PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee of BJP, Congress messed up India from 2004-2014 and now PM Modi of BJP and NDA  government are hard at work to recover the lost ground as also ensure we make substantial all round progress.

Tehelka may have folded up, its has left behind a very unhappy and rabidly communal person who celebrates suffering of the members of majority community all in the name of secularism.

Evidence of misreporting, fake reporting, motivated reporting is mounting on a daily basis, we would soon reach a point; where it will be fait accompli to clean the media. Sharing cartoons by Mr. Arun Kohli, which speak for themselves, take away the need to write more on the state of media.
