Media in the Well of Death or is it the Russian Roulette being played???

15th May 2012 the day for me was almost over. Was winding down to sign out from Twitter and other forums. When this tweet caught my eye.

It’s 11.08PM another 22 minutes and I would be done with for the evening as normally is done by me. Then these four tweets appeared on my time line.
These had links with names of the publications and channel, given the respect that we have for Mr.Vijay, could not contain myself and started opening the links one by one. The screenshot below speak a story of their own. I could have uploaded all these on my other blog, instead decided to wait, looking at the frenzy that media had worked itself into, more was sure to follow.

This frenzy reminded me of two extreme sports if one may call them “Well Of Death” it is all about maintaining a specific speed on a motorcycle or a car and going round the vertical walls of the well rising from bottom almost to the rim of the well and then gradually going back down to the bottom of the well. This is exhilarating  stuff for the performer(s) it holds the spectator in a spell, once the gate to the well is closed there is no exiting either you continue or you fall of.The other is  “Russian Roulette” it is all about 1 bullet instead of 6 in a revolver two participant taking turns at placing the barrel of revolver against their temple and pulling the trigger till one is no more.

Media vis a vis Mr. Narendra Modi is in a “Well of Death”  It is churning out negative stories but for how long? Fatigue has set in, media if it slows down will fall off the wall of the well, if it continues it will overshoot the rim of the well.  There is no escape for the media from this, causalities will be there for sure.  Some like NDTV are in such a rush that it does not even bother to proof read or verify the location of the BJP’s Executive Meeting mentions New Delhi instead of Mumbai.

Screaming headlines in each of the reports is so premised for : CNN IBN say “Modi upset at being overlooked for the post of party President.”  NDTV say “Mr Modi is reportedly upset about the re-induction of Sanjay Joshi” Hindustan Time say “Narendra Modi has reportedly conveyed to the party leadership that he may not attend the national executive” Indian Express say “Sources in the state BJP say Modi is not happy with the RSS decision to give a second term to Gadkari with whom he has fallen out.”  Again Indian Express say When contacted, state BJP president and Modi's close aide R C Faldu said: “It is not necessary for CMs to go for these meetings if they have other engagements.”

Do all these media organization have their fly on the wall in BJP and  CM’s office.  Were these reports true or based on some facts or mere speculations & figments of imagination of these media houses. Credibility of the media when it come to reporting about Mr. Modi in particular is near non existent, we are witness to 10years of malicious campaign carried out by major players in the media sphere.

On 17th May 2012 Mr Rajdeep Sardesai provoked Tweeple by posting this Tweet.
Normally he is heard complaining “Please don’t shoot the messenger.” He indulges in that very act, since he is unable cope with the facts being put out on Twitter
This is not where the story ended, there was more to come as suspected on the 24th of May dutifully NDTV and CNN IBN report Sanjay Joshi has resigned from BJP. Here again there is neither substance not facts to support these claims. These posts are then removed from their sites, today if anyone wished to access them he would be unable to do so and will be taken to modified report. Why does this happen with such regularity with NDTV and CNN IBN, what is their motive and what do these two channel stand to gain by doing this? Screen shots are placed below for those who wish to try and reach the concerned report please do try you luck.

This just about concludes this article; the questions that beg answers are, what are the compulsions of English media to publish negative reports on BJP and Mr. Modi? Is there a specific purpose? Is all this being done at the behest of some political party? Why is it that NDTV and CNN IBN are off the block first with wrong information? Why is the media manufacturing news where there is none in case of BJP and Mr. Modi? How long will this continue?

Latest update as on 1st June 2012

Some channels do not want to mend their ways even after being caught red handed in spreading rumors.

New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi on Friday amidst reports of growing rift within the top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership. The meeting assumes significance given the unease in the party and a growing distance between Modi and senior leaders LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj. Modi, who has come to attend a Planning Commission meet in Delhi, is keen to be projected as the BJP prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The meeting with Vajpayee is taking place on a day the BJP mouthpiece Kamal Sandesh severely criticised the Gujarat Chief Minister. However, Modi is not meeting Advani or any other top BJP leaders in Delhi even as his camp downplayed the entire issue. { LINK }
I welcome a debate and discussion on this…As always, please keep your tone civil, your language polite…no sweeping generalisations please and no personal abuse.  Thank you.
