Say no to khap panchayats in villages we have kangaroo court & lynch mobs in @timesnow studio.

Bringing to your the latest on the case, News Nation did bring both the parties of the case, i.e., Jasleen Kaur and Sarvjeet Singh, on a common platform.
This happened during a conversation hosted by the channel, when Sarvjeet Singh asked a simple question about the duration of the conversation at the time of incidence, according to her. As she mentioned, 3-4 minutes, there is a valid point raised by Sarvjeet, that no traffic signal in Delhi stays red for 3-4 minutes.
I hope she understands the difference the duration of the conversation is very much relevant. And other things raised by the journalist too.
After looking at her way of speaking, during that 90 seconds of red light, she must have been the one speaking most of the time, may be 70% of the time. If this is the case, how did Sarvjeet molested her in merely 20-25 seconds including the statement as mentioned by Jasleen “Jo kar sakti hai kar le. Complaint karke dikha, fir dekhiyo kya karta hun main”.
Can this be another proof again Jasleen?

Political Editor or an Editor who plays politics with Editorials?

The opening statement in “Bhatt is the truth?” by Vinod Sharma “I’m sure this post will get the goat of Narendra Modi’s many admirers who visit the site with alarming regularity.” Is a reiteration of my firm belief that there is a child in every adult! The impishness and the puerile approach towards the subject! Arrogated or should one say the divine right to outrage is so explicitly visible.

Monsanto would surely be pleased with their products of Genetically Modified foods; Vinod Sharma seems to have been on an exclusive GM foods diet; hence he does come through as a Genetically Modified commentator on political affairs of this country. I am not too sure if the gentleman should be known as the Political Editor or an Editor who plays politics with Editorials.

If my memory serves me right Mr. Vinod Sharma is the same person who claimed that the CD of Bhushan’s conversation in his possession was authentic, yet it turned out otherwise. What credibility would or should such an individual enjoy?  Again is Mr.Sharma not a sitting member of commission?

The current controversy is a result of a statement made by a lawyer representing the Gujarat Government before the Nanawati Commission. The question is did Mr. Sharma make any further investigation or this was not needed since the purpose is not to find the truth or obtain justice for the victims but indulge in politiking which would benefit his political paymaster. Not withstanding Mr. Sharma protestation of being independent unbiased editor, which we swallow with a liberal helping of salt.

Mr. Sharma in tandem with Mr. Vir Singhvi did form a deadly duo for Hindustan Times, for attacking Gujarat and Mr. Narendra Modi if one called Mr. Modi a Mass Murderer the other termed Gujarat riots as pogrom and genocide hoping the publishers of dictionaries world wide would replace existing meaning with their explanations of these words. Alas the Earth still continues to revolve around the Sun.

The flip side is if one was to mention BOFORS or 1984 in the presence of this deadly duo of Hindustan Times, we get to hear oh those were Anti Sikh riot and lumpen elements were involved pray who were those lumpen elements? If this does not deter you, the next is oh this is history is it so? Did this event happen in ancient India? No it was only 27 years ago victims still await justice.

“How on earth can that happen in the country’s best administered state? Is good governance all about foreign capital inflows, shining skyscrapers, road connectivity, electricity and water? All these matter but are of little or no meaning when the system is designed to manipulate justice.” So very emphatically stated Mr. Sharma you have been singing hosannas of the Congress government for just the very things, there is a deafening silence from your end when crucial documents go missing in who let Anderson flee the country post Bhopal gas tragedy, 2G, CWG, Adarsh housing and many other scams.

Now lets us examine your claim of these document being of paramount importance to the process of justice for 2002 Gujarat riots.

1. Have you investigated this issue further?

2. Do you want us to believe given the extremely sensitive nature of these documents the courts and the various commissions have overlooked to requisition them despite 9years having lapsed?

3. Do you want us to believe that such crucial evidence could be ignored even by the Supreme Court which has established an SIT for Gujarat riots?

4. When the Union Government within no time could call for the MOU’s signed during the Vibrant Gujarat meet, would not initiate steps to ensure crucial evidence is preserved?

5. Congress has been singularly unsuccessful in wrenching Gujarat from Mr. Narendra Modi in the last 3 state elections, would it let go off an opportunity to settle scores with the CM?

6. What could not be achieved democratically is being attempted through other means.

7. Did you read this article or is it too inconvenient for you?

It indeed does not make a pretty picture to watch an editor’s struggle there are 115 comments posted so far in response to this blog unable locate any charitable ones about Mr. Vinod Sharma, time facts were recognized, and there is limit beyond which nothing remains palatable or credible. Please do make it point to read this{ article }also Mr. Sharma, change of heart can always happen.

Mr.Jug Suriaya new salesman in town

Must confess I have always enjoyed reading articles & blogs by Jug Suriaya, this article NaMo vs Manmohan  by Jug Suraiya May 25, 2011 has come as a bolt from the blue. Many who had set shop and made it a source of livelihood by targeting Narendra Modi since 2002 have failed; laws of economics have established this to be an enterprise with diminishing returns, then why has Jug Suriaya opened his shop at such a late stage?

What are the compulsions for Mr.Jug Suriaya to veer off course and venture into territory that has claimed so many from his profession?  What has driven him to this conclusion of ‘Two men, two ideas of India’?

Why has he embarked upon a comparison between a patently Non Performing Asset of India that is Dr. Manmohan Singh and an Icon of achievements Mr. Narendra Modi Chief Minister of Gujarat. Anyone who has followed the media since 2002 until now cannot miss the fact that media both print & electronic have singularly failed in achieving their goal. Narendra Modi still stand tall in this country and the people of this country have not brought into the idea of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Narendra Modi since 2002 has been vilified like none before, media has tried to sell Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to us since 2004, like no other Prime Minister has ever been in the past.

Permit me to debunk other two claims made here  “The Gujarat CM is arguably by far the most controversial politician in India” This is what the media wants us to believe people in this country are yet to come across statements that would substantiate this claim of Mr. Jug Suriaya and fellow professionals in media.

“Among his many admirers he enjoys a devotional status generally accorded to miracle-working godmen.” The angst of the people is with media, are not necessarily supporters of Narendra Modi. What is galling is that 9 long years no credible evidence has been presented before any court of law on the basis of which he can be prosecuted. Yet he has been called variously by different individual as “mass murderer” Ignoring 1984 Delhi massacre of innocent Indians and the Bhopal gas tragedy which should have earned this infamous sobriquet for those who headed the government at the center & in Madhaya Pradesh.

Conversely none are willing to buy anymore the argument that Dr. Manmohan Singh is Mr. Clean reincarnate with all the scam that have unfolded under his watch. Both may turnout to be guilty of acts of omission rather than commission, this can only be established in a court of law. Not in a blog, media or a TV studio.

The subject is NaMo vs Manmohan It is given fact that both gentlemen do not interact much with media. This debate is best settled by placing the few rare videos of the two protagonists for the readers to asses for themselves the value they bring on board and their respective performances, words may not convey what these videos would.

NaMo: Videos.

Dr. Manmohan Singh Videos:

Finally doubt it very much if we would find many Indians who would state that “they are ashamed of being Indian.” Yes we may have hung our heads in shame for many an avoidable unfortunate incident in our country. Ashamed of being an Indian? No never. There is but one idea of India.

Breast Beating Brigade or Secular Mercenaries in India??????

The breast beating brigade is out in full force as is their wont. Let me share with you something that I was intrigued with as a child. Similarity is rather striking in the actions of what I am going to narrate to you and our Secular extremists. What I am going to place before the readers many a young Indian may not fully appreciate the content and context since they live in nuclear families today as against joint families that were the norm in 60’s & 70’s in India.

In my pre-teens on a few occasions I had to accompany the family for a few funerals and the customary mourning period that follow, since the relatives were outside Delhi we were obliged to stay there for the entire period of mourning. Every morning a group of ladies dressed in impeccable whites would arrive and sit together in the center of the room their faces covered, as other mourners arrived; this group of ladies as if on a cue would start wailing in unison. After a short while they would fall silent and indulge in gossip. The process was repeated through the day for next 10days. I was indeed intrigued by this, but kept my consul. When my grandfather expired I was in my teens and the same group of ladies was there again, I could not restrain myself and somehow gathered enough courage to enquire from my grandmother about their identity and why they did what they did.

My grandmother took the trouble of explaining to me, that these ladies were part of the Biradari that is our clan and the purpose of their wailing was to help family come out of the shock of loss of a dear one, as also the grief at the earliest by weeping, this was the   entire rationale which dictated this dedicated group of women to be present at every sad occasion for this they neither charged nor was any attempt made to pay them, it was part of social service and custom.

Let us now revert to present from 60’s & 70’s the ritual has been converted into a lucrative business model by our Media, NGO’s and individuals, who gather in studios every time a judicial verdict is announced. Be it the Ayodhya, Dr. Binayak Sen, or Godhra train burning they indulge in breast beating, berate judiciary, berating the state and the incumbent Government especially if it is BJP. They shed copious amout of crocodile tears, while keeping an eye on the cash register which keep ringing regularly. No they do not help the victims overcome their grief; instead they exacerbate grief and spread victimhood among the members of a particular community. All this is done under the guise of seeking justice for the victims.

“On the face of it, this may appear to be a worthless and even self-defeating exercise since judges are expected to be swayed by arguments in the courtroom and not by spirited exchanges in TV studios. The judiciary, however, is not detached from society and judges don’t live in ivory towers. Like any other citizen, they too are prone to being influenced by their immediate environment. The purpose behind activists using the media to argue points of law and evidence (without having to bother about the opposing counsel) is simple: create a climate of opinion favourable to the cause they are espousing and portray other perspectives (including court judgments) as a travesty.” This is what Mr. Swapan Dasgupta has to say in “Legally speaking”

“This unpalatable truth has now come home to our duplicitous Hindu-baiting liberal media, politicians, and activists of all hues, with the sessions court declaring that the Godhra carnage was an act of conspiracy, pronouncing 31 accused as guilty, and acquitting 63 accused for lack of credible evidence.” By Rohit Srivastava in Judicial snub to crypto Islamists.

“Post the Godhra special courts judgement on the Sabarmati Express train burning case I wanted to comment on the criticism leveled by the usual suspects concerning the ‘undue delay’ in delivering justice. I ask to be forgiven for drawing attention to the possibility that a single mention of the victims of the case made to wait for almost a decade for justice is yet to be found.” centerofright 's blogpost, mentioning timelines, please see “Godhra Verdict: Explaining the delay”

“It is only when partisan agendas of politicians intrude into the realm of law and justice that things tend to go wrong. Therefore, it is a matter of great relief that the court verdict on Tuesday in the case concerning the Godhra train deaths in February 2002 was received with utmost calm by all concerned parties.” The Godhra verdict.

The flip side of the Godhra verdict lets again focus on just two posts one is a blog "Godhra verdict fails to convince" by Pankaj Vohra in Hindutan Time

“In fact, it was only after news mixed with rumours and inaccuracies circulated in the state following what happened in Godhra, Gujarat burned resulting in its worse communal trouble and deaths of thousands of innocent persons.” The facts are that 794 Muslims and 254 Hindus died as result of these riots that adds up to just over a thousand and not “thousands” as the author would have us believe.

A sample comment post by Mr.Ishwar  in response to this blog.

“Mr. Vohra,
I can sense the pain this judgement has brought to the seculars like you. Not too long ago, the seculars used to say - "we'll respect the court's decision". Suddenly, when the decisions have started going against their propaganda, they have begun raising doubts over the judgement. The world is watching and thankfully people can see through the motives of your biased articles.
Learn to live with the fact that:
a) Lord Rama was born exactly at the spot where Babri Masjid once stood
b) Binayak Sen is guilty
c) Appointment of CVC was incorrect and
c) Muslims conspired to burn the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express.

These are all coming from the judiciary.

Stop worrying about the 63 acquitted in the case. I don't see a single line of regret expressed towards the 59 who died in the tragedy. I have been told never to start a fight, but if someone troubles me, then it is me who would decide the severity of punishment that I would inflict on him/her. The Muslims in Gujrat asked for it and they got what they deserved. Ever since, they are quiet - having been shown their rightful place.”

Next is a far more enlightening article in the Hindustan Times.  :Narendra Modi 2.0 By Mr.Samar. Halarnkar

“Modi's biggest handicap remains his inability to apologise or deliver justice for the riots. No right-thinking Indian can forget a pogrom against any community, but especially not against a minority. India can't and must not forget the 1,200, mostly Muslim, victims of 2002, as it can't and must not forget the 59 Hindus whose horrific deaths sparked the subsequent carnage, as it can't and must not forget the 2,700, mostly Sikh, victims of 1984. The memories of these outrages fade but can't be forgotten.”

This a sample comment by a reader of this article Mr. S.Asim
“Mr. Samar,
I presume that you gave the title first and then you wrote the article. So obviously you concluded something without going thro' the premise first. This is a 'herd' mentality. What are yr. criticisms- he is image conscious- what's wrong with it? Second, he did not apologise for the Gujarat riot; why should he if he is not responsible for it. According to author the memory of Gujarat riot will not fade. It would have but for Seculars, media included, are not allowing a healing touch. They kept soking it or for that matter the Babri demolition as if there was no temple demolished before it.
Why don't you speak of Noakhali riot or Direct Action Day riot at Calcutta where thousands massacred ( but unfortunately hindu lives, who cares) engineered by Suhrawardy which can be eclipsed only by the massacre of 3 million non-mulims in Turkey.
Come on SAMAR, let us engage in a healthy debate before the country is engulfed by Civil War for which you people will be squarely blamed.”

In conclusion if justice is the aim of this breast beating beasts then how come they have not spoken about 1984 Sikh Genocide where over 10,000 innocent Indians lost their lives and incidentally all were Sikhs not Hindu, Policeman or member of any other community was a victim. 27years on there is no justice yet there is deafening silence and a conscience effort to underplay the numbers also.

Communal violence is not good for the country no sane person would ever condone it. Worst is inflaming passions for political purposes and electoral gains for a particular party which in the after math of Ayodhya verdict is clueless since it main weapon has been blunted permanently by the people of India.

Tragedy for Congress is that nothing is sticking and with each new verdict being pronounced by a court of Law it is losing ground. Bihar it has lost for a long time to come, Gujarat seems out of bounds, Karnataka despite its best efforts has firmly slipped away. Desperation is palpable hence the media has been unleashed yet again to recover lost ground, this is another self defeating exercise since media is confirmed den of the corrupt and tainted people, congress and media are complimenting each other in their free fall into oblivion, result is depressing with each news item or an article the rejoinders from public are getting more pointed and sharper.
Hindustan Times and Congress are sorely missing the services of Vir Singhvi who served them with distinction. Radia tapes have exposed the motivated and bigoted media before us Indians. Indians will not buy into these motivated claims and formulations. Time for course correction is upon the media.

Idiom "All is fair in love and war" reconstructed by media

“All is fair in love and war.” This is how we know the idiom! A new dimension has been added by the mainstream English media, expanded version reads as “All is fair in love, war and politics.”

"The starlight is not there for Modi " By Mr.Pankaj Vohra in Hindustan Times of 19th Sept 2010 is the motivating factor for this latest blog.

Undoubtedly, Congress, RJD, LJP and the friendly mainstream English media would want to present us a picture favorable to their formulations. Yet if Bihar has been reclaimed from the Jurassic park where it had been firmly placed by RJD-Congress combine the credit must be placed at the doorsteps of NDA government.

Chinks in the NDA are not visible, need for that is urgent, so why not employ fiction and manufacture a few if not a whole lot of them.

Election time debates will move away from Secular Vs Communal if and only if the media permits it. While nobody tires of stating that India has moved on yet the shackles of this paradigm are not being allowed to be shed.

In a democratic setup more than one aspirant for the top job does not amount to anarchy or dissensions within the party or a coalition. Yes it may seem so to all those who are followers of Congress party and its peculiar brand of democracy.

Pyramid is narrowest at the top and only a select few reach the pinnacle. It is a puerile argument that minority support for Bihar government is due to Mr. Nitish Kumar, he is not a one man army, BJP does have its ministers in that government and are holding portfolios of significance unless ofcourse in your opinion that is unimportant.

Bihar and Gujarat are the 2 best performing states of this country among many others, incidentally all of these have BJP or NDA Governments in place, benefits of the development are not being regulated in a manner that the effects are limited to any particular community; recent result of by elections in Gujarat is a testimony to that. Ayub Chauhan, 35, is one of the Muslim voters of Kathlal constituency in Central Gujarat who voted for the BJP. It's for the first time BJP won the Assembly constituency and Chauhan does not want to be left out of Gujarat's development story being scripted by Modi."We thought it's our Congress and kept voting for it. But the BJP is in Gujarat and everybody is benefiting. We thought why we should be left out," said Ayub Chauhan. This is as reported by CNNIBN Modi on a high after winning in Cong bastion

Why the media wishes to stay in its time warp of 2002 events? Mainstream English media is not the sole opinion maker in this country, vernacular press can be ignored at your own peril; besides word of mouth is far more effective, with a deeper reach and longer duration. Can it be denied that people of these 2 states are moving for employment from one to the other, will not NDA highlight its achievement with statistical data?

2014 is fair distance away, performance of all the aspirant over the next 3 years or so will determine who would get to the coveted office of the Prime Minister.

Somehow the irony of this article is the severe indictment of UPA. Deficiency in legitimacy of the incumbent UPA and Prime Minister is so stark that could not help noticing it “ As per the Westminster model, which we follow, the leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj should be treated as the shadow prime minister.”

Will the English Media yield to public pressure?

Mr.Mehta, is hallucinating Mr.Modi hates media, here we go again cause and effect Newton’s law is being forwarded by Mr. Vinod Mehta, No; this is not the correct reading of what Mr.Mehta is saying? There is a genuine complaint that Mr.Modi has not engaged or has been drawn into a slugfest with the media. Why should he? Does he have any chinks that need to be covered, have not been able to detect, he is not run of the mill corrupt inefficient yet another Chief Minister in India, who needs the media. Words are needed where action is weak or fails. Request Mr.Mehta for once to speak as a common Indian citizen without the accompanying halo of a journalist, which is the worst abuse today in India. The only perspective that individuals masquerading as journalists have is free drinks and food.

It is the guilt conscience that makes the offender perceive that he is wanted by the law, all the misplaced perception that you have, ostensibly which Mr.Modi exhibits towards the media are a manifestation of your conscience. Is it not a fact that as head of Gujarat state he must be impartial and also seen to be so, can we with any degree of conviction say the same for our mainstream English Media. The past 8 years it is the media which has been providing us with our daily fix of venomous diatribe which would put the deadliest Cobra, Viper and even the Boa constrictor to shame.

The decoding we take it at face value since it is coming from a very senior “Journalist”

02nd of April 2010 is indeed a watershed day for India not just the Congress, many in the print and electronic media have issued confessional statement on voluntary basis. Thank you we have noted the contents and the trend continues. Media is frustrated with its inability to carry out the execution after having condemned him in the Kangaroo court establish by Congress.

“Whether Modi was or was not the mastermind of the “genocide”,
“mass murder”, “carnage” has, in a sense, become a side-issue. What we have on display is a catch-me-if-you-can game and Byzantine legalese. Even after his 10-hour questioning by the SIT, he appears only marginally disadvantaged. Let me quickly add that I am totally with the sainted Teesta Setalvad, Rajdeep Sardesai, Arnab Goswami (although I am not entirely sure which side he is on!), Barkha Dutt and Siddharth Varadarajan, but at this moment Mr Modi seems to have the better of the hacks.”

Is this the confirmation that it is all about politics; the quest for justice is a convenient smoke screen. The idiom of US vs THEM being played out in full public glare with blatant disregards for professional ethics, the head must be delivered on a platter to the paymasters.

Permit me as a mango man (Aam Adami) of this country to state that we refuse to be converted into brain dead zombies. Which the individuals named by you have been attempting for the past 8 years. Alcoholics can seek refuge and assistance of the alcoholic anonymous. Unfortunately we have not been able to establish a separate institution for Modi fixated addicts.

The convoluted statements and eye witness accounts are just about beginning to unravel under their own weight; this is one such link

http://indiatoday.in…ghts.html?complete=1

your covert admiration for Modi may soon translate into a very overt act. The affect of 2 blogs and placing in public domain, the speech of Feb 2002 in the Gujarat Assembly, along with the appeals for calm made on doordarshan seem to have had the desired effect in 2010 if not in 2002. Has the Lion begun to roar again? Shall wait to see who is the last man standing in this sordid saga?

Finally if justice is what you seek, which is doubtful, then we would need to be convinced of your impartiality, the 26years long marathon being run to avoid the clutchs of law by Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler and Congress party must receive the undiluted attention that has been pointedly avoided by your saints and evangelists.

“FACE THE NATION” it is your turn.

This is in response to “Face the nation” by Rajdeep Sardesai 01st April 2010

Confession of a neo mullah of secularism! This is the day of confessions and damage control. All publications are carrying stories and articles backtracking from the rabid communalism that they have been practicing in the garb of secularism. What is the reason? That we are witness to this change of heart!

1. Mr. Modi’s appearance before SIT, breaking his silence after 8 long years.
2. Blog by Mr. Modi, his speech in the Gujarat assembly in Feb 2002 and all the appeals made by him on DoorDarshan which are now in public domain. The media had not mentioned this fact for last 8 years.
3. Refusal by Mr. Bachchan to join issue with congress and his maintaining a dignified silence in the face of extreme uncalled for provocation.
4. Realisation by the Congress that in the event of any SIT being established for past or future misdeeds it would not be able to avoid appearing before it.
5. Public outrage at the conduct of the Congress Party and mainstream English Media.

Manish Tiwari will no longer froth at the mouth on mere mentioning the names Bachchan or Modi. The public at large has delivered its message loud and clear pygmies cannot take on the colossus’ Bachchan and Modi. Watching news on TV might just have turned the corner, may become pleasurable once again. News might not get distorted into propaganda for a political party and its first family.

Now let us examine this self confessed secularist who has been preaching communalism for past 8 years, without facts or basis, he and his ilk have polarized the society with such speed and to an extreme that even most accomplished communalist has been wonderstruck and rendered unemployed.

Rajdeep Sardesai the people of this country including me want justice for 2002, just as we want justice for 1984,1993 and many other gory events before and after 2002 that make our stomachs churn. Your singular focus and freezing of Gujarat in a time machine dated 28th Feb 2002 is unacceptable. The outcry from the public is for even handed treatment, which you twisted to make it appear as pro or anti Modi. We are also witness to the 26years marathon being run by Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler and the Congress party to somehow avoid the clutches of the law. The 3000 innocent Indians who were killed on the streets of Delhi are entitled to justice and the media shall have to get equally active on that. Gujarat of 2002 has to be taken out of that deep freezer where you and other self confessed guardian of secularism have placed it. You not just targeted a state in India, a duly elected head of the State of Gujarat; you insulted the people of India who raised their voices against your biased and motivated reporting. Your lack of ethics in the vocation of your choice, partisan treatment, arrogance and inability to take onboard different viewpoints resulted in dropping of rating for your news channel. Today you stand discredited before the Indian public. Comparing your channel to BBC will not bestow any honor or respect.

You still have much more distance to travel, it is going to be a very hard lesson for you and your channel, this lesson will have to be learnt, the bitter pill will have to be swallowed or you shall be permanently rendered irrelevant in the industry of your choice. For far too long you have spewed venom at individuals not deserving this treatment. The victim hood that you allude to is a figment of your imagination. The 4th pillar of Indian democracy has been corrupted! Fresh steel needs to be infused so that they ensure that the governments perform in this country. Watch dogs of democracy cannot be transformed into pet poodles of the political party in power. Kangroo courts established by the congress cannot be manned by their publicists who masquerade as Media houses.

Rule of law shall prevail in this country! The final judgment shall be delivered by the duly constituted courts and not by another political party or the motivated media. Awards you may gather, nominations you may get, respectability as a professional you will have to earn, for that cannot be bestowed by the political party of your choice. In the final analysis it is us the public who will deliver the verdict on the credibility of the publication or the TV channel. Your hour of reckoning is here very apt heading “FACE THE NATION” it is your turn.

Day of confessions and damage control by Congress and the Media

This is in response to “It’s a two-way street” by Anil Dharkar 01st April Hindustan Times.

Two articles on the same day! This is a shift in tack from the Congress friendly media. Having reaped the whirlpool by sowing the winds!

The needless attack on the Bachchans, the over the top and shrill reporting on Modi's appearance or lack of it on the 21st March, left the media, the Congress party red faced and bloodied nose. The netizens made their emotions known to all and sundry what was acceptable and conversely what was deplorable and repugnant to them.

A hasty retreat! An equally pathetic attempt, at rehabilitating their political paymaster by Hindustan Times. Vir Sanghvi, Pankaj Vohra and Vinod Sharma have lost their credibilty in the eyes of the public, in comes Anil Dharkar and Rajdeep Sardesai. Sorry Mr Dharkar you are the looser in this attempt.

Sonia Gandhi is nothing more than the glue that binds the Congress party. You demean Indians by placing all the credit at her feet. "She did so from a sense of duty to save the Congress from the oblivion it was hurtling to under the ‘leadership’ of the likes of Sitaram Kesri and Arjun Singh, Sharad Pawar and N.D. Tiwari." this party without this glue will fragment into pieces that we will find difficult to count.

“The poor of India weren’t put off by her foreign identity because they saw that she had embraced an Indian one: in clothes, in deportment, in language and in family values.” Were sold a dummy by the congress friendly media the misuse of the name “Gandhi” As always fiction of a better tomorrow made it possible to win elections, the hard facts are before the poor of this nation, who have multiplied under the Congress Governments, the poor will deal the telling blow in the near future.

Please do ponder if People of Indian Origin living overseas crave and work for a better India and we very proudly claim that India lives in their hearts. Why is it not acceptable that the country of origin of the Congress president lives in that heart, why should we accept, that this is an exception to the same logic and rule. This is where the educated made the distinction and that is why the acceptance was not and is still not forthcoming.

The question that you must answer to all of us "Are we going to lead a life of perpetual indebtedness to the Nehru Clan?" Have we not already paid a heavy price for allowing this family to be the sole arbiters of the destiny of our country? Is Indian freedom struggle only about Nehru? Were there no other persons who sacrificed or participated in the struggle for attaining freedom? Lastly the most important question that we all must ask ourselves for how long will we hand out the top job of this country to this clan on compassionate grounds. Ignoring more deserving, and meritorious individuals! Congress is nothing but a family run enterprise similar to the regional parties where the top job is always held by it promoter. The only difference is that it is playing at the national level as against other being mostly restricted to their states.

SIT Summons for Narendra Modi, Media goes hyper.

I am sure, there must be many in their mid 50’s who witnessed the mayhem, that was unleashed on the street of Delhi in 1984 where 3000 innocent Sikhs were killed in an orgy of death. The struggle to come to terms with the memory of those 3 days. Analogy of “Earth trembling because a big tree had fallen” as justification. The subversion of judicial system for the last 26years, we have not seen any vociferous support from the media for the victims, or the demand to bring to book the culprits responsible for the genocide, the first and only reported case in India. Instead this incident is being reported as Anti Sikh riots. Just two days ago we were witness to Mr.Sajjan Kumar walking out of the court in Delhi with bail having been granted to him in the 1984 cases. Periodically reports appear in the media and nothing more. The other event that has not received the due coverage is the ethnic cleansing of the Kashmir Valley, which has resulted in the Kashmiri Pandits becoming refugees in their own country. The Indian media has studiously avoided reporting on this issue. Why is it that these two events have not caught the imagination of the media? Were these Indians any lesser or is it that the perpetrators of crimes were not Indians? No most definitely not, the alleged accused are Indians, the Indian state has been a silent spectator if not a covert partner in these crimes.

The question that needs to be addressed is why has the media stayed silent and apathetic to the victims in these two cases? Were the alleged accused not known to the media? Is it a case of selectivity or oversight? Did these cases not reflect the Majority vs Minority aspect? Were these acts committed by communal forces or were these the acts of the secularists? Will justice be delivered in these two cases?

Indian history is replete with accounts of communal riots, since 1947 we have seen unprecedented numbers, majority of these horrendous events have unfolded when the government at the helm of affairs has been from Congress, yet none has received the attention from the media as 2002 Gujarat incident. Even as I write today, there are reports of communal violence in the city of Bareilly. State of Maharastra has witnessed 1 communal riot every 20days over the last 5 years yet there is no sustained campaign against the Chief Minister of the State. If one was to go by the media reports, then other incidents just did not happen. The State of Gujarat seems to have been frozen in 2002, elections and the mandate of the people of Gujarat for Narendra Modi is of little or no consequence.

Mr.Narendra Modi is not just accused of culpability and/or complicity. He has been judged and sentenced by the Indian media. This has been going on since 2002, now it is more than 8 years yet there is no let up by the media, mention the name Modi and the media goes into hyper mode.

CNNIBN continues it relentless tirade, does this channel have any concrete evidence of any crime committed by this individual? Is it an case of extreme prejudice? Why?

NDTV has scheduled yet another exclusive program on 14th instant “Godhra haunts Modi again” Does this channel have any concrete evidence of crimes committed by this individual? Explicit visceral hatred, for a democratically elected, Chief Minister of the State of Gujarat! The question is why?

Indian Express “Demanding answers” what are the reasons for this? Mr. Vir Singhivi has called this man a mass murderer why? Mr.Vinod Sharma of Hindustan Time does not miss an opportunity to take a dig at BJP.

Congress unable to unseat him thru free and fair elections, targets the man at every occasion without fail, overlooking the fact that their own record is worse than what they are accusing Mr. Modi.

Gujarat riots of 2002 are often referred to as Genocide! This is not the true description of the incident. Loss of life was not limited to any one religious community. Why is the media calling the killing of Sikhs in 1984 as “Anti Sikh Riots”? We do not have any record of any anti…… riots in India. What does the media wants, for and from Mr. Narendra Modi. Why this persistence? What are the basis for this sustained demonizing and vilification? Why has the media not placed the evidence in public domain, if indeed evidence is there to support this campaign of theirs? What is it that the Chief Minister of Gujarat did or did not do in 2002?

Why has the State of Gujarat not received the due coverage in the mainstream media in India despite the progress that it has made in the past 8 years! We are fed a regular diet of negative reports about Gujarat. Why? The comments made by Congress and the media about Mr. A. Bachchan on his consenting to promote tourism in the state of Gujarat. Has Gujarat seceded from the Union of India?

This is the single most glaring case of double standards by our media.

These self appointed, secular conscience keepers of India! Do not miss an opportunity to denigrate Mr. Narendra Modi, the reach of the electronic media is tremendous, they have a direct access to our homes 24 X 7, the uninterrupted replay of the events leaves an indelible mark on the young impressionable mind, the society is sharply polarized along, religious, and other basis. The misconceptions with the masses has left very little space for tolerance, any divergence of view with the above media houses or personalities get one labeled as a communalist. These votaries of secularism by their words and actions have put to shame, the most rabid communal individual in our country! The distinction between these self proclaimed secularist and their constant targets “The Communalists” is non existent. Both are striving hard to achieve the common objective of dividing the society permanently.

Incase Mr. Narendra Modi is guilty! The man must be punished for his crimes. What is it that Modi needs to be punished for? Direct participation in mass murder, as an instigator or is it that he did not prevent the event from happening?

Will the media answer the above question!

If we compute the worst 10 or 20 riots of India since independence, where does Gujarat 2002 fit in?   via @KiranKS

Partisan Media Part 2

Ironic yet true of our time, in India today we have the extreme secularists and the extreme fundamentalists both striving to achieve a common goal.

This is a candid admission by Rajdeep Sardesai, who does not have the required skill in his own words “Unfortunately, since I didn’t go to journalism school (or perhaps because I didn’t)” yet masquerades as a journalist. Little wonder that he does not comprehend the importance of ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’ reporting, there is also a tinge of envy, perhaps he perceives himself to be a better option than Sarah Palin, his record is impeccable on this score.

Absence of an equivalence of Fox News in India is a state of mind of simultaneous illusion and delusion. There is no dearth in India, of channels and individuals in this mould, who are capable of giving Fox News a run for its money, these channels and individuals suffer no qualms about ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’ view, since their raison d’ etre is uni-view. They spew venom and hatred at their designated targets 24 X 7, these species unearth grist in the most mundane, the non existent, in order to remain relevant in their own minds.

This is a specious argument being forwarded about the electronic media in India, yes we do have the representatives of different view points for any given debate, it is also a given that one of them does not get the same treatment as the others, the targeted view point holder will face umpteen number of interruptions from the moderator and the other panelists, besides being hampered in placing his/her viewpoint across, time given would be much lesser than others, provocative questions directed, plus an equally hostile audience who lack first hand knowledge and experience or the event being well before their attaining age when the complexities of the real world are visible or comprehensible.

Imagine the response of 20 to 25years age group present in a studio or a forum where 1984 event is discussed, this audience has no first hand knowledge on account of the age yet they will be able to relate readily with 2002 event, this is a sure way of targeting the guest who may have been invited to place his point of view on 1984 events, this panelist will be constantly denigrated with 2002 as the base year, rather than stay focused on the event for which the discussion was earmarked, it would be conveniently diverted to 2002. Touché the result is achieved without actually having to work hard and the main subject is relegated to sidelines.

The next is the labeling of the incident 1984 is referred to as Anti-Sikh riots, while 2002 is referred to as genocide. Falsification is complete and total. There is no history or any prior record in India of any animosity or rioting between the Hindu and the Sikh community. The new term is coined to provide a modicum of a fig leaf to a favorite interested party, similarly without placing complete facts before the audience 2002 is labeled as genocide, ignoring the long history of riots and the number of deaths that both the communities may have suffered. The above examples are not being used to condone, reach zero total by negating one against the other.

Both incidents were reprehensible and should never have happened in this country. The reference to these painful events has been made to highlight the active role of the media, which enhances the polarity in the society, often extending it beyond repair. The dictum of ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’ reporting is paramount we have repeatedly witnessed the failure of the electronic media to live up to it.

Then there are individuals who are self appointed conscious keepers of the nations, and do not wish to provide the most minor margin for a re-think or a fresh approach, so that a long pending dispute be resolved, or be attempted to be resolved by way of new approach. This is done by constantly point a finger and addressing that section in most derogatory terms, the tone and tenor that the accuser displays is shocking, since this individual far exceeds the limits that the accused actually employs. The cause is the individuals heightened sense of insecurity. He would become irrelevant, should the two protagonists reach mid point and proceed to resolve the intractable issue.

Our existence would become monotonous. The divergent views are the essence of a vibrant democracy. The polarity in public debate is exacerbated by the actions of the electronic media, and the journalists, who are here on a mission often morphing into evangelic persona, are more strident than the votaries of a particular viewpoint or cause. The predictability of all participants is to be expected, the disturbing fact is the moderator who overtly take a position to accentuate the differences in view points for TRPs and eyeballs. This is demeaning, and influencing the general public to a great extent. The free hand at this practice has lowered the threshold of tolerance among Indians. The younger generation will get cynical if not violent towards a contrarian view.

While one would not disagree with Rajdeep Sardesai on the below mentioned.

“The more direct, extreme view is celebrated because it leads to, let’s be honest, a ‘big fight’. As someone who has ‘moderated’ many such ‘fights’, let me say that the experience has been mostly enjoyable.” Arun Jaitley from the BJP and a Kapil Sibal from the Congress. So, if you have a rightwing voice who believes that Hindutva is the core of Indian nationalism, you must have a left-liberal view that is convinced that Hindutva is a communal platform. Better still, why can’t we have both Mr.Chidambaram and author-activist Arundhati Roy on the same programme on Naxalism? It would certainly make for fascinating television.

The most appropriate illustration of “Age of Extreme” is of the two 37 years old Indians. One whose records and deeds are in the public domain for the last 20years and counting, he has reached where none have, not just from India, the world over in his chosen field. The clamor for bestowing the Bharat Ratna is growing. This individual is truly the Ratna of our Bharat. He exemplifies everything that one would seek in an individual, the true extreme. The other is projected as the true icon of the youth the Bharat Ratna, his achievement of the last 20years are opaque, all that is known is the name and lineage. He is the messiah 2014 panacea for all that ails India. This is the other extreme.

The practitioners of extreme from the media cannot seek to be absolved on the basis of self applied blindfolds ala Gandhari. The ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’ reporting is inescapable.

This is in response to Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai's The age of extremes 1st March 2010 in the Hindustan Times.
